What Can Be Done With Old Engine Oil

Store it in a safe container; I can use an oil drainer that can actually be used to safely store old oil, but I can still transfer it to old empty oil bottles to empty the can. If you want to dispose of it, ask a local garage - they can take it from you for free or for a small fee, or they can advise you where you can take it for recycling. Here in the UK, I usually take old oil that I want to dispose of at a local recycling center, where they have large oil banks for this purpose. You can use old engine oil, but keep in mind that it is a lot more toxic and dirty than the new oil. It still lubricates and protects metal surfaces that move against each other. It is the best idea to first strain / filter it to remove the worst of the contaminants. Avoid coming into contact with the skin while handling it, and avoid using it in places that are likely to come into contact with people's skin.
